Managing Parkinson’s Disease, Arthritis and Joint Replacement, Diabetes and Osteoporosis

CLEARWATER, Fla., (October 31, 2018) -- Health experts from Morton Plant Mease invite the community to attend upcoming health seminars in December focusing on managing Parkinson’s disease; arthritis and joint replacement, and diabetes and osteoporosis. The monthly seminars are free and held at BayCare’s various Morton Plant Mease facilities and community centers around Pinellas County. 

Managing Parkinson’s Disease
Wednesday, December 5
Noon
Aging Well Center at the Long Center, Grand Room, 1501 N Belcher Road, Clearwater

Neurological Surgeon Dean J. Gobo, MD, and Neurologist Kamila Nozile-Firth, MD, will discuss the medical management of Parkinson’s disease and treatment options, including deep brain stimulation (DBS).

Arthritis and Joint Replacement 
Friday, December 7
1 p.m. 
Morton Plant Hospital, Cheek-Powell Heart & Vascular Pavilion, Meeting Room A & B, 455 Pinellas St., Clearwater

Orthopedic Surgeon Richard Abdo, MD, will explain nonoperative treatments for hip, knee and ankle arthritis, custom molds for ankle replacement and robotic-assisted surgery for hip and knee replacement.

Diabetes and Osteoporosis
Monday, December 10
10 a.m. 
Mease Dunedin Hospital, Meeting Rooms 1 & 2, 601 Main St., Dunedin

A certified diabetes educator will explain osteoporosis and how diabetes contributes to the onset of osteoporosis.
