High Blood Pressure Care

High blood pressure (also known as hypertension) increases risk of cardiovascular disease. High blood pressure causes the heart to work harder to pump blood through the body.

If a patient's blood pressure is too high upon arrival to BayCare Urgent Care, they will be sent to an emergency department. Otherwise, the provider will run tests to find possible causes of high blood pressure.

BayCare Urgent Care may recommend lifestyle changes and medicines such as ACE inhibitors, beta blockers, calcium channel blockers, diuretics and vasodilators. Patients may be referred to a specialist.
