Inpatient Services

Ongoing education and follow-up are important for managing diabetes. Winter Haven Hospital's inpatient diabetes program provides individual treatment plans and progress checks by specially trained diabetes nurses. All care providers at the hospital have access to state-of-the-art diabetes treatment protocols that are used to guide patient care.

Outpatient Services

Education has been shown to reduce the risks of long-term complications of diabetes. The certified diabetes educators (CDEs) of the Center for Diabetes Education provide individual and group outpatient education to adults referred to the Center. The Center for Diabetes Education is recognized by the American Diabetes Association as meeting the National Standards for Diabetes Self Management Education.

Winter Haven's outpatient program is designed to help patients with diabetes and their families better understand their condition and take charge of their health. More than 90% of managing your diabetes is self care, which makes diabetes education an important factor in ongoing care. Winter Haven Hospital also offers diabetes support groups that meet at the hospital Wellness Center.
