After graduating from the University of Alabama at Birmingham Medical School, Dr. Anderson entered the USF-MPM residency program where he served as Chief Resident. He has worked in many capacities since his graduation. He has worked as a hospitalist at Morton Plant hospital and physician advisor. Dr. Anderson was tasked with developing and expanding the palliative program at Morton Plant Hospital. He was instrumental in turning the little-known program into a thriving service that provides much needed care to patients with severe debilitating diseases. Dr. Anderson joined the USF-MPM faculty in October of 2013. He is currently responsible for the following curricular areas: ER, Critical Care, Inpatient Medicine, Procedure Clinic, Heme/Onc, Nephrology, and the Wilderness Medicine Track.
Dr. Anderson currently serves in the United States Army Reserves as a family physician. He has been deployed to Afghanistan and various locations across the US. With his military background and his own personal interest, he has acquired advanced training and certification in wilderness and austere medicine. He also has certification in dive and marine medicine, and is a DAN referral physician.
Dr. Anderson is married and has two sons. He enjoys being with his family, SCUBA diving, camping and hiking.
