BayCare and the Tampa Yankees Team Up to Strike Out Cancer

Tampa, Fla. (June 5, 2015)- More than 1,000 cancer survivors are expected to attend a special night of baseball as BayCare and the Tampa Yankees step up to the plate in the fight against cancer on June 6.  At 5:30p.m., nine BayCare cancer survivors and a BayCare Extraordinary Caregiver will take part in the pregame ceremonies.

     A patient is considered a cancer survivor from the time of diagnosis. Early detection is critical in striking out cancer and BayCare encourages men and women to see their doctors regularly and to follow the national guidelines for regular cancer screenings.   • 4:30 p.m.- Gates Open for Cancer Survivors
  • 5-5:15 p.m. - Children under 14 can run the bases
  • 5:10-5:30p.m. - Tampa Yankees on concourse signing autographs
  • 5:30p.m. - On-field ceremonies recognizing nine BayCare cancer survivors and the BayCare Extraordinary Caregiver
  • 6pm- Game begins between Tampa Yankees and Clearwater Threshers
  • Fireworks following the game
