Incontinence Program

St. Anthony's Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation Program is directed by a licensed physical therapist trained in the evaluation and treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction issues. Each patient will have a thorough physical therapy evaluation focusing on their specific dysfunction/diagnoses. Typically a patient is seen weekly for a total of 6 to 8 visits.

Some of the common diagnoses we treat are:

  • Urinary incontinence
  • Fecal incontinence
  • Pelvic floor dysfunction - vaginismus, vulvodynia, vestibulitis
  • Levator ani syndrome
  • Pelvic pain caused by interstitial cystitis
  • Coccydynia
  • Pudendal neuralgia

A plan of care will be tailored to individual needs and may include:

  • Biofeedback training (strengthening and relaxation)
  • Manual therapy
  • Education including bladder retraining
  • Therapeutic exercises
  • Personalized home exercise program
  • Electrical stimulation
  • Ultrasound
