BayCare’s 2020 Report to the Community Is Now Available

In a year that challenged West Central Florida and the entire world, BayCare Health System nonetheless continued to deliver on its promise to serve its entire community, providing more than $445 million in community benefit across the region. The figure encompasses uncompensated and charity care along with direct community service contributions and programs.

BayCare’s annual Community Benefit contribution is among the details included in BayCare’s 2020 Report to the Community that was released this week. The annual publication is aimed at keeping the public informed about the region’s leading community-owned, not-for-profit health system.

As to be expected, much of BayCare’s story in 2020 revolved around the arrival of COVID-19 in the Tampa Bay and West Central Florida regions. The 2020 report, in both words and video, shares insights on the pandemic’s immediate and potentially long-lasting impacts on the health care industry. And it includes a video about professional challenges and personal fears clinical teams confronted in treating patients stricken with COVID-19.

While the pandemic was 2020’s biggest story, it wasn’t the only one for BayCare. Visitors to the Report to the Community webpage also will learn about:

  • Achievements in clinical excellence, workplace recognition, and the hard work of more than 30,000 team members and physicians.
  • A new push to provide food assistance to patients and communities that are food insecure – among the initiatives encompassed in BayCare’s Community Benefit contributions.
  • Major capital improvements and investments completed or announced to ensure the region will continue to receive high-quality, not-for-profit health care in the future.

The report can be accessed at BayCare.org/AnnualReport.
