Many Applicants Score Job Offers at BayCare Hiring Event
A BayCare hiring event at the BayCare Ballpark in Clearwater on Thursday attracted more than 600 applicants hoping for the opportunity to work for the Tampa Bay area’s largest health system. Many scored job offers on the spot, and many others may get offers after their applications receive further review.
It was the largest recruitment event BayCare has ever held and was conducted entirely outdoors.
“This event was way bigger than we could have imagined,” said Angel Brown, director of Recruitment and Talent Acquisition. “I am inspired by the interest in health care and grateful for those who have a passion to serve our community. We are overwhelmed with the amazing talent that showed up, and overall, the event exceeded my expectations.”
As attendees checked in throughout the day, they were directed to tables lining the baseball stadium’s open-air concourse and representing departments and facilities throughout BayCare. More than 200 BayCare team members and leaders signed up to staff the tables. They answered questions, helped attendees fill out job applications and conducted one-on-one interviews, which were done in the stadium seats overlooking the baseball field. BayCare’s Employee Health team also was on hand to greet and evaluate onboarding candidates for their job placements.
Like many health care companies in the United States, BayCare has seen an uptick in open positions in 2021 and is considering a variety of creative ways to reach individuals who want to work for a mission-driven, not-for-profit organization focused on providing high-quality, compassionate care to the community. Another large-scale hiring event may be considered in the future.
