Cynthia Reyes, M.D.

Tampa, Fla. (Nov. 15, 2019) – Cynthia Reyes, M.D., FACS, FAAP, has joined BayCare Medical Group at 3001 W. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Tampa, FL.  She is board certified in general and pediatric surgery.  

Dr. Reyes received her Doctor of Medicine from Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA. She continued her medical education by completing a surgery residency at Columbia University in New York, NY, and then completed a pediatric surgery fellowship at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA.  She is the first Hispanic woman formally trained in pediatric surgery in the U.S.

With more than 28 years of pediatric surgical experience, Dr. Reyes also has published research on neonatal and pediatric surgery, quality and patient safety, and clinical documentation improvement.  In addition, she has served as a professor of surgery at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque and the University of Central Florida in Orlando.

Dr. Reyes’ primary life pursuit is to help people in need. As an experienced pediatric surgeon, she contributes to the development of cutting-edge, pediatric surgical programs that provide high-quality, high-value surgical practices for her patients. Additionally, she is certified in advanced trauma life support, pediatric advanced life support and basic life support. 

Dr. Reyes is past president of the Pacific Association of Pediatric Surgeons and a member of the American Pediatric Surgical Association and Florida Association of Pediatric Surgeons.  She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Pediatrics, as well.  Dr. Reyes is affiliated with St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital.
