12th Annual Pitch for Pink Slated for July 14

CLEARWATER, Fla., (June 9, 2017)-- Morton Plant Mease and the Clearwater Threshers are teaming up to honor breast cancer survivors at the 12th annual Pitch for Pink event Friday, July 14 at Spectrum Field, 601 N Old Coachman Road, Clearwater.

Highlighting the evening will be the Breast Cancer Survivors Walk at 6 p.m. Players from both teams will join fans in applauding these courageous individuals as they walk the bases.

The game, which starts at 6:15 p.m., features the Clearwater Threshers, Class A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, taking on the Bradenton Marauders, Class A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates. To honor breast cancer survivors, Threshers players will wear special pink jerseys, which will be autographed and auctioned off in a silent auction along with autographed pink bats, gift certificates and spa packages.

The event is a way to increase community awareness about the importance of early detection and to raise funds to help support the breast health services and programs at Morton Plant Mease. More than $260,000 has been raised through Pitch for Pink over the last 11 years.

“We are grateful for the partnership with the Clearwater Threshers organization and the support of the community for this event that helps fund many breast cancer programs, which are vitally important to the women in our area,” said Ernestine Morgan, president and CEO of the Morton Plant Mease Health Care Foundation.

Following the game, fans can enjoy a fireworks show courtesy of Clearwater Gas Systems.
