BayCare Medical Group Welcomes Four Board Certified Physicians

CLEARWATER, Fla., (February 2, 2017) – BayCare Medical Group is expanding services in Polk County with the addition of four new physicians. Preyanka Aggarwal, MD and Wendy Quiles, MD, are Primary Care Physicians, Christopher N. Nobo, MD is a gastroenterologist, and Kamal Sharma, DO, is a medical oncologist/hematologist.

Dr. Preyanka Aggarwal joined BayCare Medical Group (BMG) in late December to practice at BMG Primary Care in Haines City, located at 36245 Highway 27. She earned her medical degree at Santosh Medical College and Hospitals in Ghaziabad, India and completed her residency in family medicine at Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc, MI.

Dr. Aggarwal is board certified in family medicine and is also certified in advanced cardiac life support, pediatric advanced life support and as a practicing HIV specialist. She is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians, and the American Academy of HIV Medicine.

Dr. Wendy Quiles joined BayCare Medical Group (BMG) in October to practice at BMG Primary Care in Bartow, located at 1625 N. Carpenter Avenue. She earned her medical degree at Ross University School of Medicine in Roseau, Dominica and completed residency in family medicine at TriHealth, Bethesda Family Medicine in Cincinnati, OH.

Dr. Quiles is board certified in family practice, and is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Board of Family Medicine.

Dr. Christopher Nobo joined BayCare Medical Group in September to open a gastroenterology specialty practice. He is on the medical staff of Bartow Regional Medical Center and Winter Haven Hospital. Dr. Nobo, a Bartow native, is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology. He earned his medical degree from the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine in Tampa; and completed an internal medicine residency at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC and a gastroenterology fellowship with the University of South Florida.

Dr. Nobo is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Gastroenterological Association and the Florida Medical Association, and is a board member of the Florida Medical Association’s Council of Medical Education, Science and Public Health.

Dr. Nobo has also participated in several research studies on gastrointestinal, esophageal, and duodenal involvement in cancer patients and evaluating nutritional deficiencies in the veteran population. He is certified in endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) – a diagnostic procedure used to evaluate problems of the liver, gallbladder, bile ducts, and pancreas.

By returning to his hometown, Dr. Christopher Nobo is continuing a family tradition with his work at Bartow Regional Medical Center. Both his father, Dr. Ralph Nobo, an obstetrician-gynecologist, and his grandfather, Dr. Rafael Nobo, who was a general surgeon, have served patients since 1963.

Dr. Kamal Sharma joined BayCare Medical Group in September to practice at Winter Haven Hospital’s Cassidy Cancer Center. She is the medical director for the Cassidy Cancer Center, and is on the medical staff of Winter Haven Hospital.

Dr. Sharma is board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology and hematology. She earned her doctorate in osteopathic medicine from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, NY. She completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at the State University of New York (SUNY) in Buffalo, NY, where she chose to study translational research in oncology. Translational research involves analyzing patients and customizing successful cancer treatments for them when possible. She then followed with fellowships in medical oncology and hematology at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD.

Dr. Sharma brings an extensive experience in clinical trials and drug development. An accomplished author and presenter, she has contributed her medical knowledge to numerous peer publications and associations, including Science Translational Medicine, Clinical Cancer Research and Best Practices & Research Clinical Hematology.
