St. Anthony’s Hospital Foundation Seeks Nominees for 2017 Legacy Awards

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., (Sept. 20, 2016) -- The St. Anthony’s Hospital Foundation is seeking nominees for the 2017 awards for community leaders to be presented at its annual Legacy Awards and Dinner on Feb. 23, 2017.

This will be the 10th year the awards have been presented at the Foundation’s Legacy Dinner, which will be held at the Hilton Carillon Park, 950 Lake Carillon Drive, St. Petersburg. The guest speaker at this year’s event is H. Gilbert Welch, MD, MPH, a professor of medicine at the Dartmouth University Geisel School of Medicine and author of three books, including his most recent, Less Medicine, More Health – Seven Assumptions That Drive Too Much Medical Care, who will speak about more wellness and less medical treatment in health care.  

Each Foundation award publicly acknowledges the commitment and vision of those who are true models of philanthropy or service. The deadline to submit nominations is Jan. 11, 2017.

The four awards to be presented are:  
  • The Roy G. Harrell Jr. Leadership Award which recognizes an individual who demonstrates vision, initiative, motivation, selflessness and commitment through outstanding community service and leadership benefiting the community. 
  • The Helen D. Roberts Philanthropy Award which recognizes an individual’s generosity in giving of his/her time, talent or monetary contributions to not-for-profit organizations devoted to educational, cultural, and social or public health concerns. 
  • The Hippocrates Award recognizes an individual physician or medical practice that demonstrates selflessness and dedication to the community. The recipient also strives to improve patient care and to make that care more available to underserved communities. 
  • The Future Leader in Philanthropy Award recognizes service by an individual eager to lead their peers, advocate and raise funds for St. Anthony’s and who demonstrates outstanding commitment to the community through financial support, support in development of charitable programs, volunteering and leadership in philanthropy.
