Morton Plant Mease Health Experts Host November Health Seminars

CLEARWATER, Fla., (September 30, 2014) - Morton Plant Mease health experts invite the community to attend upcoming health seminars in November focusing on weight loss surgery, atrial fibrillation, and metabolic syndrome and sleep apnea. The monthly seminars are free to the public and held at BayCare’s various Morton Plant Mease facilities and community centers around Pinellas County.

Learn how to identify sleep-related symptoms that may be indicative of metabolic syndrome, and other symptoms that include coronary artery disease, obesity, and insulin-resistant diabetes. Pulmonologist Reinerio Linares-Mera, MD, will discuss the factors that make up metabolic syndrome and which sleep disorders predict it. You'll also discover what can be done to decrease the risk of developing metabolic syndrome.
