South Florida Baptist Hospital Foundation Hosts Diamonds and Denim Gala

August 15, 2014

PLANT CITY, Fla., Aug. 15, 2014 –More than 600 people are expected to attend South Florida Baptist Hospital Foundation’s 18th Annual Diamonds & Denim Gala, Sept. 25, 2014, 6:30 – 10 p.m.  The event will be held at the Expo Building, Strawberry Festival Grounds in Plant City.

“Since its inception in 1997, Diamonds & Denim has raised more than $800,000 for South Florida Baptist Hospital,” said Kim McElveen, Diamonds & Denim chairperson.  “The money raised each year benefits projects like the hospital’s surgery center, imaging center and community outreach programs.  We are appreciative of the numerous sponsors, such as TEAMHealth Emergency Medicine, the presenting sponsor, whose support helps make these programs available to hundreds of people in our community.”

As the name implies, diamonds are a feature of the evening.  Guests will have a chance to win a diamond ring.  The reference to denim refers to the attire that revelers are known to wear.

Other highlights of the party include live music, dancing, six food and beverage stations, a silent auction, 50-50 raffle, complimentary, framed guest photos and valet parking.  A live auction has been added to showcase many of our featured auction items:  An entire patio furniture set, beautiful handmade swing, beach and mountain trips, sports tickets and more.

A unique feature to Diamonds & Denim is the Diamond Jubilee Dining Experience that takes place during the event.  While all party guests will enjoy a gourmet dinner, one lucky winner and their table mates will be able to feast on a steak and lobster dinner, specially prepared for them by Chef Michael Ambrosino.  Tickets for the dining experience are made available in advance with gala reservations and at the event.

Marsha Passmore and Debi Peacock join McElveen as vice chairs of the gala committee.  Other members of the committee are: Kathy Baskin, Carmen Brownlee, Frank Cummings, Sylvia Knox, Gail Lyons, Brett Mueller, Glenda Raulerson, Bruce Rodwell, Margaret Rodwell, Rhett Rollyson, Lizzette Sarria, Phil Waldron and Faye Wetherington.

Tickets are $60 per person and sponsorships, ranging from $250 to $5,000, also are available.  To purchase tickets or donate an auction item, contact Jana Butler, executive director, at (813) 757-1277.  Reservations are required by Sept. 8.
