Child Life

Patients in the Day Hospital also benefit from the presence of Child Life. Certified Child Life Specialists are trained in childhood development and pediatric responses to the medical environment. They work with patients and families based on their specific needs. This includes teaching positive coping in a hospital setting and helping patients better understand medical procedures through developmentally appropriate preparation and education.

Our Sedations Save program helps determine the best course of action to treat each child. Our Child Life Specialists provide assessments to ensure that patients are appropriately empowered to complete procedures without use of sedation. Certified Child Life Specialists strive to implement individualized coping plans to meet the patient and family needs and to reduce medication when possible.
