Outpatient Occupational Therapy

Therapy for Day-to-Day Living

The focus of occupational therapy is to improve or restore function to enable the patient to participate in daily living activities to the fullest extent possible. Occupational therapists help people learn new skills or adapt to a permanent loss so that they can do the day-do-day tasks that occupy their time, give them independence, or bring them enjoyment.

Occupational therapy treatment uses purposeful activities to restore and maximize independence, prevent disability and maintain health. It includes experience with functional tasks to improve coordination, balance, cognitive skills, strength and range of motion. Adaptations for disability are also addressed through compensation training and adaptive equipment.
