What is a long-term acute care hospital (LTCH)?

A LTCH is designed to care for adult patients (age 18 years and older) with complex medical illnesses or critical injury who require intensive, around-the-clock attention for an extended period of time.

Where is BayCare Alliant Hospital located?

Alliant is located on the campus of Mease Dunedin Hospital, in Dunedin, Florida, a part of the Tampa Bay marketplace. BayCare Alliant Hospital serves the LTCH needs of patients in central and north Pinellas, southern Pasco, and eastern Hillsborough counties and is the only HIH long term acute care hospital in a three county area.

When did Alliant Hospital start treating patients?

Alliant treated its first patient in March 2008, and has treated approximately 1000 long term acute care patients since opening.

Is a long-term acute care hospital appropriate for you?

Answering "yes" to one or more of these questions may qualify a patient for admission:

• Does the patient have multiple system failure?
• Is the patient dependent on a ventilator?
• Is the patient in need of intensive wound care?
• Is the patient medically unstable for transfer to lower level of care, such as a nursing home or rehab hospital?
• Is the patient's rehabilitation compromised by an acute medical issue?
• Is the patient in the intensive care unit?

How long should I expect to be a patient?

The average length of stay is expected to be at least 25 days, but each individual has unique needs. Your length of stay will be discussed with you and your loved ones.

What is the difference between Alliant and other Long Term Acute Care Hospitals in our area?

One of the many benefits of being admitted to BayCare Alliant LTCH, as opposed to a free standing LTCH, is that patients can receive immediate, acute care intervention at Mease Dunedin Hospital without ever leaving the main hospital building.  After their surgery or treatment, they return to their own familiar BayCare Alliant Hospital. Unlike freestanding LTCH's, Alliant Hospital also has onsite physician availability 24/7 through Mease Dunedin Hospital's Emergency Department.

Will I have a private room?

Our hospital is a 48-bed, acute long-term care facility which includes 24 private rooms and 12 semi-private rooms. All rooms are medically-equipped for critical care needs.

Accreditation?

BayCare Alliant Hospital is fully accredited by The Joint Commission and is Medicare-certified.

Can I get all of my records from the Medical Records Department?

No, certain records such as radiology, nuclear medicine, and cardiology films, must be requested from their respective departments. Call (727) 736-9867 for more information.

Is there a charge for copying my medical records?

There is a nominal fee of $1 per page.
