Taking Medications Safely
Know why you were prescribed the medicine and what it is supposed to do.
Follow your doctor's instructions about how much to take and how often.
Read the package label or patient information sheet.
Don't take someone else's prescription.
Don't take any medication without your doctor's approval if you're pregnant or nursing.
Read and heed all directions, warnings and precautions.
Don't take medications and vitamin or mineral supplements at the same time without first checking with your health care provider or pharmacist.
Call your doctor, 911 or your area's emergency-response number if you are suffering a life-threatening allergic reaction to a medication.
