Additional Therapies

Pet and Music Therapies

At St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital, we offer various types of expressive therapies to aid in the healing process. Our nurses and Child Life Specialists can help determine which therapies are right for each patient.

Pet Therapy

Pet therapy is designed to promote a fun & therapeutic environment, provide stimulation and provide social interactions. Pet Therapy can also help reduce anxiety and loneliness.

Music Therapy

Music therapy is the use of both child friendly instruments and vocals to help children express themselves.

The music therapist will work together with your child to create a musical outlet. This can help promote relaxation, play and normalization.

Music Practitioner

A music practitioner is a board certified, healing musician who plays musical instruments and/or sings to facilitate healing of the body, mind, and spirit.

The music practitioner provides a non-interactive experience at the bedside and is trained to observe the patient carefully and customize their music to the patient's needs.

Art Therapy

The Art Therapist provides therapeutic art and play activities to patients and their siblings through various mediums, to help promote self-expression, emotional well-being and social functioning.

Massage Therapy

The massage therapist provides therapeutic touch and massage to patients to help promote relaxation and healing
