Grieving? Learn Tips to Navigate the Holidays

In the past 18 months, many people have experienced loss. Some have lost their closest companion or friend and struggle each day simply to keep going. Others may not struggle daily, but with the holidays approaching, memories of happier times may intensify the feelings of loss.

To help the community, Morton Plant Mease’s Spiritual Care Department will offer its Grief Matters community forum specifically designed to help individuals navigate the holidays following a loss.

Chaplains will lead the forum covering topics such as understanding the grieving process, practicing self-care and finding support among people who care and understand.

The identical seminar will be offered on four dates via Microsoft Teams.

  • Tuesday, Nov. 16 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Nov. 17 from noon to 1 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Dec. 8 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, Dec. 9 from noon to 1 p.m.

“Last year, we implemented a virtual format for our grief support groups because we knew people were hurting, but we also realized we had to stay safe and socially distant,” said Rebecca Bass, bereavement coordinator. “We have had a tremendous response to our grief groups and seminars throughout the year and hope we can continue to help our community with these efforts.”

To register or for more information, participants may email mpmbereavemet@baycare.org or call (727) 462-7995. When registering, participants will be asked for their preferred date and given a link for the session and instructions for signing in.

The seminar is free and open to the community as well as team members.

Special thanks to the Morton Plant Mease Health Care Foundation for helping to make these programs possible.
