BayCare Hosts Event for Cancer Survivors at ZooTampa

Expedition Survivor, to be held Feb. 1 at ZooTampa at Lowry Park, is for all people touched by cancer.


Tampa, Fla. (Jan. 2, 2020) – BayCare will host its annual Cancer Survivor Event all day on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020 at ZooTampa at Lowry Park, located at 1101 W. Sligh Ave., Tampa.

Each year, BayCare hosts this event to recognize all cancer survivors in our community and honor those who have been lost to this disease. This event is for all people touched by cancer, including survivors, patients, caregivers, family members and supportive friends.

At “Expedition Survivor,” guests will have zoo access from 9:30am-8pm. After 4pm, Expedition Survivor guests have exclusive zoo access and the opportunity to enjoy special activities and entertainment.

Expedition Survivor includes:

  • Animal encounters and shows including the popular Birds of Prey show, elephants, orangutans and penguins
  • Animal feedings
  • Fun activities for kids
  • DJs from Magic 94.9 and 105.5 The Dove
  • Live music including the Landsharks, a Jimmy Buffett tribute band
  • Photo stations throughout the zoo
  • Prize drawings
  • A commemorative Expedition Survivor gift for all guests
  • A special cancer survivor tribute from 7 to 8pm hosted by The Dove’s Ann Kelly

Each cancer survivor may invite up to five others to join them in this celebration of their journey. Cost to attend for each guest is $12.24. Each registered guest will receive $10 vouchers for food and non-alcoholic beverage purchases in the park. In other words, you’ll receive ZooTampa admission and food/beverages for just $2.24 in total.

Walk-up registration on the day of the event is available until the event reaches capacity.

This is the sixth annual BayCare cancer survivor event and the second consecutive year it will be held at ZooTampa at Lowry Park.
