St. Joseph’s Hospital-North Promotes Bethany Wells to Director of Patient Services

LUTZ, Fla., Aug. 7, 2017 — St. Joseph’s Hospital-North has promoted Bethany Wells to director of patient services, overseeing all nursing personnel. She assumed this new position July 17.

Wells’ duties include leading and evaluating the nursing team; setting objectives and long-term goals for the nursing department; and organizing and coordinating admission, nursing and patient-care procedures.

“Beth has been a member of the St. Joseph’s Hospital-North family since it opened in 2010 and we are proud to have watched her grow as a nurse to now join our leadership team,” said Paula McGuiness, hospital president. “Her expertise and passion for nursing will enhance clinical excellence and patient care for all of our customers.”          

Wells first joined St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa in 2000 as a patient care technician. She quickly progressed academically and professionally, becoming a registered nurse in the medical-surgical department and then the charge nurse of the orthopedic unit. Wells relocated to St. Joseph’s Hospital-North as an education specialist when it opened and played a key role in the onboarding of the entire team. She most recently was the nurse manager of nursing administration, where she managed a team of 37 nurses and support professionals. In that capacity, she also oversaw orientation and education programs for new and existing team members and was responsible for the hospital’s emergency management and preparedness program.

After earning her nursing degree, Wells went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in health care administration from Saint Leo University. She is currently working towards her master’s degree in nursing leadership and administration from Capella University.
