MPM and Clearwater Threshers Host Pitch for Pink
Morton Plant Mease and Clearwater Threshers to Honor Breast Cancer Survivors at 11th Annual Pitch for PinkCLEARWATER, Fla., (June 23, 2016)-- Join Morton Plant Mease and the Clearwater Threshers Friday, July 22 at Bright House Field, 601 N Old Coachman Road, Clearwater, for the 11th annual Pitch for Pink.
The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with a tribute to breast cancer survivors who are invited to come on the field and walk the bases. Players from both teams, along with fans, will cheer on the survivors to celebrate their courage and strength as they battle or have battled breast cancer.
The game, which starts at 6:30 p.m., features the Clearwater Threshers, Class A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, taking on the Fort Myers Miracle, the Class A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins. To honor breast cancer survivors, Threshers players will wear special pink jerseys, which will be autographed and auctioned off in a silent auction along with autographed pink bats, gift certificates and spa packages.
Since its inception in 2006, Pitch for Pink has raised more than $220,000 to help support breast cancer programs and services at Morton Plant Mease. “We are grateful for the support of the Clearwater Threshers organization in helping us raise funds and awareness for services and programs that help patients (and their families) battling breast cancer in our community,” said Ernestine Morgan, president and CEO of the Morton Plant Mease Health Care Foundation.
“I lost my grandmother to breast cancer so I am passionate about the Pitch for Pink event,” said Amanda Koch, community relations manager for the Clearwater Threshers. “Not only does this event honor all of those who are fighting or have fought this disease but it helps raise funds for breast cancer research, treatment and awareness.”
After the game, fans can stay for a free concert featuring Titans of Rock, a Journey/Bon Jovi tribute band.
