It's in Our Hands

 CLEARWATER, Fla., (October 1, 2015) - BayCare is launching a new breast cancer awareness campaign and invites the Tampa Bay community to join the movement.

     Breast cancer appears in 1 out of every 8 women throughout their lifetime, making it the second most common cancer in women behind skin cancer. This October, BayCare is empowering women to take control of their breast health by reminding them their health is literally in their hands.

     Black and white photographs featuring Tampa Bay breast cancer survivors, caregivers and supporters with pink painted hands are at the heart of this campaign. The pink hands are a symbol of empowerment, encouraging women to take control of their breast health by becoming familiar with their bodies, actively talking with their doctor and having conversations with the women in their lives about early detection. The pink hands also represent BayCare’s ability to treat breast cancer patients through surgery, treatment and a compassionate touch.

     “It’s in Our Hands” is a grass roots social media campaign and the Tampa Bay community is encouraged to help get it off the ground. Simply visit www.ItsInOurHands.org and download the pink hands image or grab some pink paint and get a friend to take a unique photo. Supporters can then change their social media profile picture, use the hashtag #InOurHands and have their friends do the same.
