Regency Renamed Winter Haven Women's Hospital

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – November 7, 2014 – Winter Haven Hospital’s Regency for Women and Infants has changed its name to Winter Haven Women’s Hospital.

The 61-bed acute care facility, built in 1987 at 101 Avenue O Southeast in Winter Haven, Florida, is part of Winter Haven Hospital (WHH), a BayCare Health System hospital. The Regency name was given by the developer before WHH purchased the building.

“Recent consumer and physician research supports changing the name to Winter Haven Women’s Hospital,” said Steve Nierman, President of Winter Haven Hospital. “The change connects the women’s services to Winter Haven Hospital.”

Patients at Winter Haven Women’s Hospital can expect access to the same physicians and award-winning services. It includes a Level II NICU and staffs obstetric hospitalists for 24-hour coverage. In 2013, the facility delivered more than 1,600 babies and performed more than 1,800 surgeries. It is a recipient of the Premier Award for Quality in the area of Maternal and Neonatal Care, and recognized by the March of Dimes for committing to its “Healthy Babies Are Worth the Wait” campaign to reduce early elective deliveries.

In addition to the new name, the building is currently undergoing interior and exterior renovations, including development of a Breast Center expected to open in early 2015. The Breast Center will offer women’s imaging services such as 3D mammography, breast ultrasound, and bone density osteoporosis screenings (DEXA).

“The new name and look reflect Winter Haven Hospital’s mission,” said Nierman. “With the upgrades in progress, we’re excited to offer advanced and comprehensive services to the women in our community.”

Crews will complete installation of new exterior street signs in mid-November. The sign at 101 Avenue O Southeast will reflect the new name. Updated signage reflecting Winter Haven Hospital’s consolidation to BayCare is also being installed for the Center for Behavioral Health at 1201 First Street South, the Community Blood Center at 460 First Street North, and WHH main campus at 200 Avenue F Northeast.
