- Dr. Haldane Porteous is board certified in internal medicine, nephrology and clinical hypertension and is part of BayCare Medical Group Gessler Clinic in Winter Haven, where he sees patients age 18 and older. He earned his medical degree from the University of the West Indies Medical School in Kingston, Jamaica. Dr. Porteous continued his medical education by completing an internal medicine internship and residency at University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida and a Master of Science in patient safety and leadership from the University of Illinois in Chicago, Illinois. He then completed his nephrology fellowship at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Porteous specializes in general kidney issues including kidney stones, cysts and dialysis, electrolyte disorders, hypertension and the evaluation and medical management of patients following renal transplant surgery. He is a member of the Renal Physician Association, a fellow of the American Society of Nephrology, and the American College of Physicians. He is affiliated with Winter Haven Hospital.
