I came in because I experienced a sudden onset of acid reflux. My dad has acid reflux and has to take omeprazole every day to manage it. Before I saw the Dr I took omeprazole which helped with some of the reflux but I still felt like It hadnt resolved my struggle. The Dr did not ask about my family history and didnt seem to listen when I told him. He suggested that I lose weight (which I have lost and am losing weight 20 lbs since my last baby when my symptoms started occurring). He didnt ask me about my diet or if I had been losing weight. He just said lose weight every pound will help. Then he asked me why I thought my symptoms had started, which I really do not know, and Is part of the reason I am concerned. He prescribed a new medication told me to take it for 14 days and then suggested I take it as needed for 7 days when symptoms start occurring again. I waited in the office with three children for over an hour to see the dr. He was in and out of the office in 5 minutes which really made me wonder what I and my insurance had even paid for.
