Family Assistance Program (FAP)

For the School
Today’s elementary, middle, and high school students face more challenges than ever before. Stress, anxiety, depression, bullying, and the pressure to excel can be obstacles to having a rewarding and successful academic experience. Parents and faculty are not immune to the effects of these challenges either. The dynamics of the academic family (students, parents faculty) can be disrupted for all when any one of its members is struggling with personal problems.
The Family Assistance (FAP) program helps everyone invested in the success of the student to realize physical, mental, and spiritual resilience needed for all to achieve a positive school experience.
For the Students and their Families
BayCare’s Family Assistance Program helps students, their families, and faculty, cope with personal problems which might otherwise interfere with realizing a successful and positive experience throughout the early school years .Through a confidential, toll-free helpline, Family Assistance Program members have access to behavioral healthcare professionals who can help identify the problem, assess its severity and make a referral to the most appropriate resource for providing a solution. Help is available in a variety of forms. Face to face counseling, e-therapy, or telephone counseling with a licensed mental health professional may be recommended based on the needs and preference of the caller.
Referrals to community resources may be made when appropriate. Finally, an online FAP service offers over 20,00 resources which provide a wealth of knowledge and information through articles, self-assessments, online legal and financial forms and guidelines, personal development courses, FAQs, and more. This online service is dynamic and comprehensive. It offers valuable information to help meet the personal challenges faced by all those involved in the education process from elementary school through high school.
