Frequently Asked
Questions
What is a long-term acute care hospital
(LTCH)?
A LTCH is designed to care for adult patients (age 18 years and
older) with complex medical illnesses or critical injury who require intensive,
around-the-clock attention for an extended period of time.
Is a long-term acute care hospital appropriate for
you?
Answering "yes" to one or more of these questions may qualify a
patient for admission:
- Does the patient have multiple system failure?
- Is the patient dependent on a ventilator?
- Is the patient in need of intensive wound care?
- Is the patient medically unstable for transfer to lower level
of care, such as a nursing home or rehab hospital?
- Is the patient's rehabilitation compromised by an acute
medical issue?
- Is the patient in the intensive care unit?
How long should I expect to be a
patient?
The average length of stay is expected to be at least 25 days,
but each individual has unique needs. Your length of stay will be discussed with
you and your loved ones.
Will I have a private room?
Our hospital is a 48-bed, acute long-term care facility which
includes 24 private rooms and 12 semi-private rooms. All rooms are
medically-equipped for critical care needs.
Accreditation?
BayCare Alliant Hospital is fully accredited by The Joint
Commission and is Medicare-certified.
