Free Lecture on Risks and Prevention of Lymphedema

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (Aug. 26, 2004) ' Radiation therapy from some cancers can trigger an excessive build-up of lymph fluid in the abdomen, arms or legs.

This frustrating and disfiguring condition can also result from the surgical removal of lymph nodes.

During two free lectures, occupational therapist Elizabeth Castro, OTR/L, CLT, will discuss risk factors and prevention tips for lymphedema as well as options for treatment.

The first lecture is scheduled at 5 p.m. Sept. 14 in the Carillon Outpatient Center Conference Center, 900 Carillon Parkway.

On Sept. 29, Castro will speak in Classroom D at St. Anthony�s Hospital, 1200 7th Ave. N, St. Petersburg.
